SDUSD Stories: Lincoln High's Exceptional Class of 2017

Posted: Thursday, June 15th 2017

Exceptional. That is the word we've been using to describe the Class of 2017 at Lincoln High School - and it couldn't be more true.

When it comes to measuring the accomplishments of a graduating class with so many incredible stories, one word doesn't do it justice. So the seniors from Lincoln High are happy to let the numbers speak for themselves: the Class of 2017 has received over 470 college acceptances, and also earned more than $9.5 million in scholarships.

The inspiring story of these Lincoln students gained some well-deserved attention from the local media recently. 10 News reporter Jeff Lasky caught up with students and college counselor Lyn Frankenburg, who shows immense pride in her students. "These kids have an enormous amount of heart."

Among these students are 27 Lincoln seniors who earned the prestigious Chancellor's Associates Scholarship from UC San Diego, where they will be attending college this fall.

The Chancellor’s Associates Scholarship program was established in 2013 by Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla to improve the pathway for all qualified students to achieve a higher education. Since the program’s founding, it has been expanded to include more high-achieving students with financial need, including students from several community-based organizations that help underserved populations.
