Sky's the limit for San Diego students in "Girls Take Flight" program

Posted: Wednesday, January 16th 2019

San Diego's newest commercial drone pilots are ambitious, young, and changing the face of a historically male-dominated field. On January 11th, nine female students from Crawford, Hoover and Morse high schools graduated from "Girls Take Flight," a 32-week training and internship program managed by the Elementary Institute of Science. Seven of these girls also earned their FAA certification, meaning they are now qualified to operate certain drone aircraft for commercial use.

The San Diego Union-Tribune also featured the program and these dedicated students in a recent article: https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/education/sd-me-girls-take-flight-san-diego-drone-program-20190114-story.html
