This morning, graduating seniors from Hoover High spent a few minutes with the kids who one day will be following in their footsteps. As part of the "Senior Walk," over 40 graduating Hoover students paid a visit to Rosa Parks, Central, Cherokee Point, and Hamilton elementary schools, all of which are "feeder" schools for Hoover.

2017 High School Graduation and Middle School Promotion Schedules

It's that time of year again - graduation day is right around the corner!

High school Commencement ceremonies will be taking place next Tuesday, June 13, and Wednesday, June 14. Middle schools will also be hosting their Promotion ceremonies for 8th grade students next week, with the exception of some year-round schools.

'Young Athletes' event to highlight district partnership with Special Olympics

San Diego Unified Young Athletes is a partnership between Special Olympics Southern California and the San Diego Unified School District. Young Athletes is intended to introduce students 2 to 7 years of age to sports skills and play activities that foster physical, cognitive and social development of young children with and without intellectual disabilities.

The partnership was developed in the fall of 2016 and piloted at nine elementary schools in the district. General education PE and Adapted PE teachers worked together to implement the program throughout the school year.

Zamorano fourth graders receive big surprise at recent Padres game

They didn't know it yet, but the Zamorano Elementary fourth graders making their way to Petco Park were in for quite a surprise. 

The four students and their families were heading downtown to a recent Padres game after being selected to take part in a special on-field ceremony. Before the game, the kids and their school's principal, Derek Murchison, were brought out on the field, joining Padres star player Wil Myers in front of the cheering crowd.

School Police Give Porter Elementary Students a Tour of the Harbor
