San Diego Unified Celebrates Music in Our Schools Month with Announcement of Music Instruction in 100% of its schools

San Diego Unified is proud to announce that 100 percent of its schools offer music instruction, an accomplishment that is the direct result of the district’s and Board of Education’s strong commitment to the arts. 
 
As of now, more than 100,000 students in kindergarten through grade 12 attending every district school will have access to music education. The variety of courses include band, orchestra, choir, guitar, jazz ensembles, music theory, piano, and composition.

Students Receive Over $1.3 Million in Scholarships at Black College Expo

San Diego High School Senior Khalayla was just one of the many San Diego Unified students that walked away with thousands of dollars in scholarship money, as well as multiple acceptance letters from the colleges on hand at the expo.

Representatives from 26 historically black colleges and universities were on hand to consult with San Diego students about their higher education options at the Black College Expo, a unique event that awarded over $1.3 million dollars in schoalrship money to students on Tuesday.

The Black College Expo is coming to San Diego next Tuesday, February 6th! We've partnered with the SD County Office of Education and the National College Resources Foundation to bring this amazing opportunity for our high school students, where there will be seminars, workshops, and college reps on hand to answer questions and save hundreds in application fees.

JumpStart Theatre Program coming to San Diego Unified middle schools

The JumpStart Theatre Program is accepting applications from district middle schools to participate in a three-year, fully-funded musical theater program sponsored by La Jolla Playhouse and the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA).
