Halal meals searved at Crawford High School in City Heights are the subject of a report by Public Radio International's Global Nation series. With a large refugee population from countries with predominently Muslim residents, San Diego Unified has used student input to create menu items prepared in the halal way, according to Islamic law and traditions.

The reporter interviews students at Crawford and Gary Petil, San Diego Unified's Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
