Mira Mesa High School Celebrates Opening of New Culinary Arts Facility 

WHAT: San Diego Unified School District's Mira Mesa High School is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate its new state-of-the-art culinary arts facility. The Culinary Arts Program at Mira Mesa High offers career and technical education for the hospitality, food service, tourism and recreation industry sector. The program provides students with skills necessary to work in hotels, restaurants, theme parks and other tourism-related businesses.

Knox Middle hosts Martin Luther King Jr. March

Hickman Elementary student collects books for kids in Mexico

Hayrum Rincon’s goal was to collect 100 books for kids in Mexico to help them learn English and avoid being bullied. 

With help from the community and other local schools, Rincon amassed more than 600 books to take with him to Mexico and distribute to kids over winter break.

Madison High wins 2-AA state football championship

As Madison High players ran wildly and deliriously in all directions around the Sacramento State football field on Friday night celebrating a CIF state championship Division 2-AA bowl victory, junior receiver Jake Pelot rested on his back by himself near the 30-yard line, his hands holding his head as if he couldn’t believe what had just happened.
