Lincoln High School launches STEAM Middle College

Lincoln The first cohort of students in the new Lincoln High School STEAM Middle College program began classes Monday, Aug. 18 as part of the latest collaboration between the San Diego Unified School District and the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD). The Aug. 18 start date aligned with the community college fall semester start date, which was two weeks before the regular start of the school year on Sept. 2.

Sequoia Student Olympics During the past school year, the Dragons have expanded their health and wellness program to promote exercise and good diet. This included the creation of a running club and garden club.

Encanto Elementary transformed into cool EnviroSchool

Birds, snakes and even Dr. Zoolittle invaded Encanto Elementary recently, and the students now know better how to care for their environment.

"EnviroSchool" is a fun and educational workshop that features "scientists" performing a variety of fun and innovative activities for the students and student participation is part of the lesson.

Transformation under way of Lincoln High to early/middle college

Lincoln High School will be transformed into an early/middle college starting in the 2014-15 school year, the Board of Education decided April 27.

An early/middle college combines a high school and a community college, with high school students able to take college-credit classes -- and in some cases earn associate degrees -- before graduation from high school.
