East Village High student’s artwork to be featured on city bus shelters in June

Next time you are waiting for the bus in the City of San Diego, take a second look to your left and to your right. The colorful and innovative artwork on the bus shelters are courtesy of East Village High School junior Jon Harper, one of the three grand prize winners of the 14th Annual Laptop Scholarship Contest sponsored by MTS, Coca-Cola Refreshments of San Diego, and the San Diego County Office of Education.

Zamorano fourth graders receive big surprise at recent Padres game

They didn't know it yet, but the Zamorano Elementary fourth graders making their way to Petco Park were in for quite a surprise. 

The four students and their families were heading downtown to a recent Padres game after being selected to take part in a special on-field ceremony. Before the game, the kids and their school's principal, Derek Murchison, were brought out on the field, joining Padres star player Wil Myers in front of the cheering crowd.
