SD Community College program to pay fees for 200 new students

The San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees have approved a pilot program that will implement the America’s College Promise free community college effort locally. The San Diego Promise will ensure that funds are provided to pay for enrollment fees and book grants for 200 local students during the 2016-17 academic year.

Crown Point Junior Music Academy celebrates visit by John Lennon bus

Students created a video and adults talked about the importance of music education during two-day visit of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and members of the National Association of Music Manufacturers (NAMM) Foundation.

A state-of-the-art mobile audio and HD video recording and production facility, all on a bus, spent Feb. 1-2 at the Pacific Beach school. With the assistance of three on-board engineers, students learned how to write, perform, record, and produce original songs, produce and shoot music videos and documentaries, and complete a broadcast-quality music video.

Joint-use fields expand with City of San Diego partnership

Together, San Diego Unified and the City of San Diego will be establishing 30 new joint-use fields/parks at schools during the next 10 years. Once completed, the total joint-use fields/parks in the district will be approximately 100. Mayor Kevin Faulconer recently announced the new initiative, “Play All Day,” during his State of the City address.
