Crown Point Junior Music Academy celebrates visit by John Lennon bus

Students created a video and adults talked about the importance of music education during two-day visit of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and members of the National Association of Music Manufacturers (NAMM) Foundation.

A state-of-the-art mobile audio and HD video recording and production facility, all on a bus, spent Feb. 1-2 at the Pacific Beach school. With the assistance of three on-board engineers, students learned how to write, perform, record, and produce original songs, produce and shoot music videos and documentaries, and complete a broadcast-quality music video.

Peace Pole proudly placed at Sessions Elementary

The Garden at Kate Sessions Elementary School now has a Peace Pole honoring Rotarian Walter Ladwig, Walter’s wife Kit, and their children, who attended Kate Sessions Elementary School, and to acknowledge Walter's contribution to Rotary, community service, and world peace and understanding. Board of Education member Dr. Michael McQuary was in attendance at the dedication.

Two Teachers of the Year lauded by USD School of Leadership and Education Sciences

Shirley MirandaShirley Parrish Miranda recently named as a county Teachers of the Year, and nominee Ron Lancia, have been highlighted by their alma mater, the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego.

Miranda teaches math at, and is an alumna of, Morse High School. She received her Master's degree in Education at the university in 2007.

Crown Point students perform for emergency responders

Crown Point Junior Music Academy string students and Recorder Ensemble got the chance to play for city officials and many of Pacific Beach’s emergency responders at the town’s Police and Emergency Services Appreciation Night.

The family-focused picnic honored firefighters, police officers, lifeguards, and park rangers for the services they offer to Pacific Beach and its surrounding communities.
