SDUSD Stories: Bright Future Ahead for Madison High Grad Kevin Abel

When senior Kevin Abel graduated from Madison High School this past week, he left behind a legacy of athletic accomplishments as one of San Diego’s top baseball players of the decade – and he’s just getting started.

Abel, a right-handed pitcher on Madison’s baseball team since his freshman year, is taking his talents to a bigger stage. He will be attending Oregon State University on a three-year athletic scholarship, joining a baseball team that is ranked No. 1 in the country and a favorite to win this year’s College World Series.

Madison High wins 2-AA state football championship

As Madison High players ran wildly and deliriously in all directions around the Sacramento State football field on Friday night celebrating a CIF state championship Division 2-AA bowl victory, junior receiver Jake Pelot rested on his back by himself near the 30-yard line, his hands holding his head as if he couldn’t believe what had just happened.
