Nutrition lessons learned at Clark Middle School

Three seventh grade teachers at Clark Middle School are inspiring students and the City Heights community one nutrition lesson at a time.

For the past two years Janel Meehan, Linda Yale and Anna Bonitati have taught a unit called "Healthy Choices,” challenging their students to have a better understanding of what they are putting into their bodies. The students watch documentaries including “Fed Up” and “In Defense of Food,” and read numerous articles on health. The unit also aligns with the Common Core focus on nonfiction texts.

Wilson Middle School future oceanographers kick off SeaWorld program

Future oceanographers from Wilson Middle School in City Heights have helped San Diego Unified, SeaWorld San Diego and the San Diego Workforce Partnership kick off a new program that will bring students to the Mission Bay Park attraction to study and explore the planet's oceans.

The Ocean Link Lab started with 30 students from Wilson, who are exploring possible career paths, and is scheduled to expand to more schools this fall.

Hoover High's NEST (News-Entertainment-Student-TV) is a fast-paced, student-produced news program with all the latest from the City Heights campus. Telecast since early 2015 on YouTube, the program talks about events at the school and student life, all produced by the school's broadcast journalism students.
