Carson Elementary receives "Innovation in Instruction" award for arts-integrated teaching

Carson Elementary has been making some big changes as they roll out new STEAM learning opportunities for the Linda Vista community. Earlier this month, they were recognized for it.

Carson, one of San Diego Unified's new STEAM magnet schools, recently received the "Innovation in Instruction" award from the Classrooms of the Future Foundation, along with a check for five hundred dollars. James Wright from Classrooms of the Future and Dennis Doyle from Collaborations of Teachers and Artists (CoTA) presented the award, which recognizes the innovative, arts-integrated teaching and learning practices that bring artists and classroom teachers together.

As part of the night's events, Carson also held its STEAM Family Workshop to bring parents in for a hands-on look at some of the new projects their children have been working on. For those who missed it, there will be more opportunities for Carson families to engage with STEAM materials and their brand new Imagination Space later in the year.
