The City of San Diego is launching its first-ever Community Recreation Needs Assessment.
This comprehensive assessment, conducted in partnership with Keen Independent Research inc., will take place over the next several months and focus on gathering data to better understand and meet the recreational, communication, and financial needs of our diverse communities across all nine Council Districts.
What to Expect:
The assessment will be carried out in three phases:
- Phase 1: Council Districts 4, 8, and 9
- Phase 2: Council Districts 3, 6, and 7
- Phase 3: Council Districts 1, 2, and 5
Each phase spans four months and includes virtual workshops, surveys, interviews, focus groups, and in-person public meetings.
Community members, local organizations, and stakeholders are encouraged to participate and provide vital feedback.
The goal is to develop a strategic action plan with clear objectives and measurable outcomes to eliminate barriers and ensure equitable recreation opportunities for all residents.
How to Get Involved: The city invites residents and organizations to join the conversation! Whether by participating in surveys, attending meetings, or sharing your experiences, your input is essential in shaping the future of Parks and Recreation programming in San Diego.
Make your voice heard today by completing the survey below and sharing your input on City of San Diego parks, recreation programs, and services. Your feedback will help the San Diego Parks and Recreation Department better understand recreation program desires within each community to serve you more effectively. All responses will be reported in aggregate, and you will not be individually identified. This is your chance to help shape a more inclusive and equitable Parks and Recreation system that reflects the needs of all communities. Deadline to complete the survey is February 28, 2026.
