Our salad bars are changing with the season! As we move into fall, you’ll notice richer colors and new flavors popping up — from deep orange persimmons to refreshing jicama.
Harvest of the Month
Persimmon season is back! Our organic persimmons come from Sahu Subtropicals in Rainbow, CA, just 40 miles from our schools. Students can find them every Wednesday on the Salad Bar in November and December. Please join our 20-min virtual nutrition presentation, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. This is a great way to introduce elementary students to the fruit and vegetables served in the cafeterias.
Salad Bar Spotlight
We’re adding jicama sticks to the salad bar! This crisp, refreshing root veggie is the perfect crunchy addition to students’ trays. Our jicama comes from Sweet Valley Produce, a small, women-owned farm in Merced, CA. Download our educational flyer.
