Effective November 1, 2016

The SDUSD Police Department’s Livescan Unit will require all SDUSD new hires and outside agencies to pay for their LiveScan at the time services are rendered.     

You may call the LiveScan Unit at 619-725- 7015 to inquire about the costs prior to being fingerprinted. 

Hours of Operations

Walk- ins: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; (or until capacity is reached)

CLOSED: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Appt. Only: 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. 

We are closed on the following school holidays: Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, Lincoln’s birthday, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, and Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday). The office is also closed during the two-week winter break observed by the San Diego Unified School District.

Fees

  • A rolling fee of $35.00 for administrative services will be added to each LIVESCAN transaction.  This service fee is in addition to the standard state fees, such as DOJ, FBI, peace officer, clearances, etc…
  • We accept Visa, MasterCard, company checks, cashier checks or money orders.

What to Bring

  • A “Request for Livescan Service” form is mandatory. This form is provided by the agency requiring you to be fingerprinted. Please fill out the form prior to arriving. 
  • A government issued picture I.D., such as a driver’s license, passport, or military I.D. Other forms of identification may be accepted in accordance with Department of Justice regulations. Identification must be valid and current.

Results

Your fingerprints are transmitted by the LiveScan Unit directly to the Department of Justice for the purpose of checking your background. The results are then sent from the Department of Justice directly to the agency you printed for.  In most cases, the results from the Department of Justice come back within 72 hours. Due to various reasons, results can be delayed. Please be advised this process may take up to 30 days or more.

Parking
There are two spaces reserved for fingerprinting applicants across the driveway from the Livescan building and adjacent to Annex 3. You may also park in any space marked with a letter and number only. Do not park in any spot marked “reserved” or designated for a particular department, or in the Police lot.
