African American Leaders for Tomorrow (AALT) Summer Immersion Program

We are seeking your help in identifying high-achieving sophomores and juniors who are ready to lead. This annual flagship event invites students from across California to a four-day legislative and leadership program convening at CSU Dominguez Hills from July 8–11, 2026.

The AALT Experience:

  • Immersive Learning: Students participate in dynamic workshops, civic engagement sessions, and a deep exploration of the legislative process.
  • College Life: Participants experience dorm living and community dining for a curated, age-appropriate introductory college experience.
  • Fully Funded: This program is offered at no cost to families. Transportation provided.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Eligibility:

  • Current California high school sophomore or junior.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA or higher.
  • Commitment to leadership and group participation.

Application Requirements:

  • Current high school transcript (official or unofficial).
  • Two signed recommendation letters: One from a school official and one from a non-related community member.
  • Two essay responses (250 words max).
  • Student photo.

Important Dates:

  • Monday, April 13, 2026: Application Deadline (5:00 p.m. PT). Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Friday, May 8, 2026: Decision notifications sent via email.
  • July 8–11, 2026: Conference at CSUDH.
