Do you have a teen who may want to represent student voice at the district level? San Diego Unified is now accepting applications for the 2026–27 Student Board Member Election. There are two Student Board Member positions open for next school year.

Students at Hoover High School and University City High School are not eligible to run this year. In addition, no two students may serve from the same high school, and at least one serving student must attend a school with 60% or higher FRPM eligibility.

To run, candidates must submit the required election materials, including a Candidate Information Statement, Nomination Papers with 200 signatures or 10% of school enrollment, a Candidate Statement for the Voter Information Guide, a one-minute campaign video, and a Declaration of Candidacy. Please note that all submitted materials may be subject to public records requests.

Key dates to know:

  • March 2, 2026 – Candidacy documents available
  • March 31, 2026 – Filing deadline
  • April 18, 2026 – Mandatory Meet the Candidates Forum
  • April 20–24, 2026 – Election window
  • May 1, 2026 – Results announced
  • June 23, 2026 – Swearing-in
