Building powerful partnerships between parent + school + community is what Ballard Parent Center is all about.
We offer a wealth of family-friendly resources, like adult computer training and math games to make learning fun. We harness all the forces dedicated to boosting student academic success. Our programs work.
We are freeway-close in historic Old Town. Our center was founded in 1995 and named for dedicated volunteer Harold J. Ballard, a testament to the importance in our district of parent outreach and engagement. We offer:
- Free High Quality Childcare
- Interpretation in multiple languages, including Spanish, Somali, and Southeast Asian languages
- Rooms for community and educational programs
As President Barack Obama has said, "In the end, there is no program or policy that can substitute for a parent...Responsibility for our children's education must begin at home." The federal government invests in our work to strengthen family involvement. We receive funding through Title I, the federal program providing added resources to schools needing help closing the achievement gap.
