
For the second year in a row, the San Diego Unified School District is offering free take-home meals for students observing Ramadan, something district officials say is aimed at supporting the “well-being and inclusion” of students.
The initiative is lead by the district’s Food & Nutrition Services Department, which is also known as the Sandi Coast Cafe. The program officially begins Feb. 17. It will provide packaged breakfast and lunch meals that students can take home and eat after sunset or before sunrise during what some consider “the holy month.”
