Summer Bridging for New Students to Each of our School Sites
In conjunction with the Extended Learning Office and under ELO-P grant guidelines, all schools shall implement a summer bridging program for incoming UTK/Kindergarten, sixth grade, and ninth grade students. The purpose of summer Bridging is cemented by anchor experiences:
Engagement/Belonging
- Knowledge of school campus
- Middle School Athletics, clubs, activities, traditions, etc.
- Build relationships
Connection to the School Campus
- Student campus tour
- Understanding systems of supports available on campus (Student and Parent)
- Parents Connection now and over time
Culture: What does it mean to be a ____/or go to school site?
Supports:
- Who is (are) my teacher(s)
- Who is my counselor?
- CCTE courses, pathways(Middle/High School)
- Placement and testing (Elementary)
- Building student voice, setting goals & strengths
- Social Emotional Learning/SEL and supports
- Organization/Study skills
