2021 PrimeTime Summer Program

2021 PrimeTime Summer Program Overview
June 21 – July 16, 2021 (19 days/Closed July 5th)

San Diego Unified School District’s (SDUSD) Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) Department will be working collaboratively with the PrimeTime Partner Organizations to offer a half day after school PrimeTime Summer Program at eligible elementary and middle level schools. PrimeTime Summer Program services will include a minimum of four and half (4.5) hours for four weeks, immediately following the end of the SDUSD Summer Experience school day.    The After School PrimeTime Summer Program will provide an engaging environment where students can strengthen their academic skills and participate in fun enrichment activities within the areas of art, science, music, athletics, and social emotional learning. Students who participate in the summer program will be offered a free nutritious meal.

Schools Offering the PrimeTime Summer Program

Program Hours and Schedule (All Schools):  
4.5 hours (after the dismissal of the SDUSD Summer School Experience morning)

Student Eligibility and Enrollment:  
All currently enrolled SDUSD students during the 2020-21 school year including transitional-kindergarten through eighth grade students attending the morning SDUSD Summer School Experience are eligible to apply for the PrimeTime Summer Program. SDUSD students recommended for academic assistance by the District will receive highest priority enrollment. All other applications will be placed on a waitlist and enrolled based on a first come first serve basis as space becomes available.   

Initial Application Timeline (May 17 – May 28, 2021):
Applications will be available online beginning Monday, May 17, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time) and must be completed and submitted online by Friday, May 28, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time) to be considered in the initial enrollment process.  Application will continue to be accepted after this date following the same process below with revised dates.



Parent Notification of Application Status:
Priority students accepted into the program will be notified via email of the status of their application no later than Wednesday, June 2, 2021.  The email will notify families of whether their child(ren) has been accepted to participate, placed on the wait list, or not eligible.  

Accepted Students Registration Process:
Once parent/guardian receives the acceptance notification, they will need to print and complete the 2021 PrimeTime Summer Program Student Participation Forms (available at sandiegounified.org/primetime ).  The completed forms will need to be scanned and sent to the Partner Organization providing services at that school site by Tuesday, June 15, 2021 to participate in the PrimeTime Summer Programs beginning June 21, 2021.  

In accordance with the California Education Code Section 8483(a) (1) that provides funding for PrimeTime, students are expected to participate in the program every day.
