Welcome to the start of an exciting year! Between college applications and financial aid, this season can feel like a lot, but you won't be doing it alone. This is the first in an ongoing series of communications from San Diego Unified’s Office of Graduation to help guide the Class of 2027 and their families through the major milestones of this important year.
We are excited to share that our inaugural Guide to College Applications & Financial Aid is ready and available now! This guide covers everything you need to know, when to do it, and how to get help along the way, including:
- How to use the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) to apply to University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) campuses.
- How to use Xello to apply to other colleges through the Common Application.

Don’t wait until the last minute! The UC and CSU application portals are open now for students to begin building their profiles. The official submission window opens on October 1 and runs through November 30. We strongly encourage students to launch their applications directly through CCGI (detailed step-by-step instructions are included in your PDF guide).
