Early education builds confidence, curiosity, and school readiness, and San Diego Unified’s Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a full day of learning designed to help young children thrive.
Starting March 2 at 8:00 a.m., families can enroll online through our simple, user-friendly enrollment system.
This year, we’re expanding access with nine new TK classrooms -- about 180 additional seats -- for a total of approximately 5,200 TK seats across the district. Children must be 4 years old by September 1, 2026 to enroll.
All elementary and K-8 schools will offer TK (except Virtual Academy and Mt. Everest). If a school fills, placement will be offered at a nearby school with available space; some highly impacted sites may maintain a waitlist. Families are encouraged to submit applications between March 2 and March 22 for the best chance of securing a seat in their neighborhood school.
Visit the district TK page for details and to access the online enrollment system when it goes live March 2 at 8:00 a.m.
