To help families understand the 2025–26 First Interim Budget and how it affects our schools, Superintendent Fabi Bagula released a video explaining the key challenges, including the ongoing underfunding of special education, and the steps the district is taking to close the gap.

Working Together: What Our Community Should Know About the 2025–26 First Interim Budget Report

Families are encouraged to attend, learn more about the district’s budget, ask questions, and share feedback.

At the Wednesday, Dec. 10 Board of Education meeting, San Diego Unified officials will present the 2025–26 First Interim Budget, with current projections showing the district facing a projected $47 million gap between expenses and revenue in the coming school year. District leaders are working on a plan to address this challenge while keeping students at the center of every decision.
