Franklin Elementary’s garden is getting a fresh start—and a new purpose. Thanks to generous support from the California Fertilizer Foundation Grant and the Whole Kids Foundation Grant, the school has received more than $4,000 to revitalize its garden beds and transform the area into a vibrant outdoor classroom.
The refresh began with planting seasonal vegetables, giving students the chance to see firsthand how food grows from seed to harvest. As the garden continues to develop, classes will use the space for hands-on learning experiences, connecting science, nutrition, and environmental stewardship.
The goal is to bring the garden back to life as a thriving learning environment for all grade levels, where students can explore, ask questions, and nurture both plants and their own curiosity. Franklin Elementary is excited to watch both the garden—and student learning—grow.
