If you have a 3-year-old at home, now is a great time to explore preschool. San Diego Unified has open seats at four Area B schools, and enrollment is open for the rest of this school year through May.
The district offers two no-cost preschool options for families.
The California State Preschool Program is for families who meet income guidelines. Children attend five days a week, either in the morning or afternoon. Families can apply online through the district website.
The School Readiness program is open to all families regardless of income. Children attend four days a week, with morning or afternoon sessions available. To sign up, contact the school directly.
"Preschool gives young children the opportunity, encouragement and structure they need to thrive while introducing them to learning, socialization and exploration," said Santos Gonzalez, San Diego Unified director of early learning. "Families can access welcoming early learning environments that support every child's growth from the very start."
