Chesterton Elementary welcomed families for a lively Back to School Night, where parents and guardians connected with their child’s teachers, explored classroom routines, and got a glimpse of the exciting learning journey ahead.
As a Community School, the evening also brought together 11 community partners who shared valuable resources with families—from health services to enrichment programs—helping make connections that will support students throughout the year. In all, 434 attendees representing 189 families joined the event, alongside dozens of volunteers. Families and partners praised the welcoming atmosphere, noting how much fun students had discovering activities like chess and how meaningful it was to engage with local organizations. One parent reflected, “I was able to get really good health resources from SD Family Care, I didn’t know they were so close,” while a teacher summed it up best: “This feels good, this is what community is supposed to look like.”
