Is San Diego Adult School open for enrollment during COVID-19 campus closures?
Yes, San Diego Adult School is open and accepting new students. Please download the Online Enrollment Form and email it to once it is completed. All courses required for graduation are provided online.
Will I still be able to earn my high school diploma during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Yes, there will be no delay in students earning their diploma during these times. While processing times for receiving a printed diploma are delayed, San Diego Adult School will provide a letter to any educational institution or employer requiring proof of graduation.
What if I don’t have a computer to access online courses?
San Diego Unified is providing all students (including Adult Education students) with a laptop while school campuses remain closed. Instructions for picking up a laptop will be sent to you after your Online Enrollment Form has been received. 
What if I don’t have internet service at my home?
Qualifying families within the Cox service area are encouraged to sign up for the Connect2Compete program offering free Cox installation and internet services. Additional options will also be provided when picking up a laptop.
What if I have questions or need support on my coursework?
Teachers and paraeducators are available by email, phone, Remind app, and/or video conferencing to support your learning. Communication preferences and support times are at the discretion of the teacher. Teacher’s email addresses are provided on the homepage of the Adult Education website.
How many hours am I expected to be logged on to Edmentum per week?
Students are encouraged to participate in the Edmentum program as much as their schedule allows during COVID-19 restrictions. In order to complete one course every four to six weeks, students need to complete a minimum of 3 hours of coursework each day, 5 days a week for a total of 15 hours of online coursework per week.
Will I still have to take the college course?
Yes, students are still expected to complete the college course requirement. San Diego Unified requires a minimum of 2-units of college credit or equivalent in order to graduate with an Option 2 diploma.
What is the last day to have all my work completed to be considered a June 2020 graduate?
The last day to turn in assignments to be considered a June graduate is June 28th, 2020. 
How long will it take to receive my diploma?
San Diego Continuing Education (SDCE) is experiencing delays in printing diplomas due to COVID-19 campus closures. Diplomas will be delivered at San Diego Unified food distribution sites once they are printed. We will notify graduates as soon as the diploma is ready for distribution. We appreciate your patience. SDCE will provide an unofficial transcript via email, which most educational institutions are accepting at this time.

Will Adult Education have a graduation ceremony for the class of 2020?
Yes, a virtual ceremony is being planned, date to be determined. Students will be able to submit a PowerPoint slide of themselves for the live 2020 commencement webcast. The webcast will also be recorded for family and friends to watch at a later time. Students will also be able to participate in a traditional commencement ceremony that will most likely happen in December 2020.
Who do I contact if I have already graduated from San Diego Adult School and need my transcripts?
Transcripts are ordered through San Diego Continuing Education: During the COVID-19 closures, please email Patti Buse with the completed Release of Student Information form attached to for ordering transcripts.
Who do I contact if I did not graduate from San Diego Adult School (or a SD Unified high school) and need my transcripts?
SDUSD is currently unable to process student records or transcripts requests in person or receive U.S. Mail or faxes during COVID-19 restrictions. Please submit your request via email to
When can I return my laptop?
Students who no longer need their laptops can return them to the device exchange centers that are open Monday through Friday 9am to 4pm at Clairemont HS, San Diego HS, and Hoover HS.
